Sleep is important just as a balanced diet and physical exercise to live a healthy life. But, when we get a bust, sleep is the first thing we tend to neglect. There are a couple of reasons why sleep should not be neglected, and it can also become deadly.

The question arises about the time span of sleep a human needs. This question is subjective and depends on the age of a person and several other factors. Therefore, in this article, we will take a look at how much sleep a human needs.

  • Newborns between the age of 0-3 months need to sleep for 14-17 hours.
  • For infants between the age of 4 to 12 months require sleep of atleast 12-15 hours which also includes small naps.
  • For toddlers around the age of 1-2 years need sleep of 11 to 14 hours.
  • For preschoolers between the age of 3-5 years, 12 to 15 years which also includes naps because of initial school fatigue.
  • For school, children between the age of 6 to 13 should get sleep of at least 10-13 hours.
  • For teenagers of the age of 14-17 years should sleep for 8-10 hours.
  • Adults between the age of 18-64 should get sleep of 7-9 hours minimum.
  • For older adults of 65+ years old, the sleep of 7-8 hours is more than enough.
